Unseen Moments #9: Gentle Whisper

The wind blows.
I take a deep breath,
inhale hope and refresh.
Gently you stir,
my troubles drift away.

Unseen Moments #8: Look who's crossed my path

If I move as slowly as he does,
slowly but determinedly,
would I arrive at the destination too?

***

Could I cross like he does:
focus only on moving ahead,
nothing else matters:
not even when giants trample
around, when eyes have no mercy.

***

Come what may,
I will quietly inch forward,
slowly but progressively, for
one tiny advance is
one tiny distance shed.

***

My shield is also my burden,
like how his strength is also his weakness.
Do we live by such duality,
opposites that protect and destroy,
nurture and constrain,
give strength and subtract will.

***

Be that as it may,
we live by His rules,
cherish the here and now
with quiet fortitude and
undiminishing time,
traverse the path ahead of us,
till the end of our journey.

Unseen Moments #7: The Messengers

The silent Messengers:
Have they arrived or
have they lost their way
in the labyrinth of memories,
a dreamscape where
the present finds the past
weaving into the future?

Is our future built on dreams
built on the past while
the present awaits the messengers
and deciphers their delivery?

Even upon their arrival
would the elusive message
manifest itself or will you
have to search for its tender words?
Where is the beginning and
where's the end, or has this always
meant to be a never ending start?

Meanwhile we search for clues and
find comfort - or is it distress - in
signs we take to be out of the ordinary,
much as the gypsies gaze into
the sky and foretell untold stories.

Unseen Moments # 5: Free Falling

5.15pm. Standing on the platform.
Staring into the rain-dazzled space,
he paused to listen to the whispering drops
that are free falling, free falling,
the feel of release in their weightless motion,
before it ends in the final act of arrival.

Unseen Moments #4: Be With You

When night falls
and the shops close,

when the streets are emptied
and the air turns chill,

when the chairs are turned
and the music is off,

when tired bodies are tempted by slumber
and souls by untold dreams,

when the ice-lemon tea has long finished
and the straw's bitten till
it's happily out of shape,

when we've talked
the same things over and again
and not getting any tired or bored -

I am just glad to have you by my side,
to be with you, see your smile, hear your laughter.

You with your flowing tresses
unfashionably out of place,
your slender frame covered
by your beige cardigan, my crumpled t-shirt
stained with your perfume -

I am just glad you are with me,
our hands clasped and our hearts beating to one,
all that matters is I have you by my side,
when night falls and that special moment dawns.

Unseen Moments #3: Love

"Holding each other’s gazes
like lonely hands across a field of dark,
we may call this love
for the crippling inability to define this,
as our solitudes rise and fall like wings
on a single butterfly,
each destination in time a gratifying flower."
‘What we may call this’ by Cyril Wong

Unseen Moments #1: Angles and Size

I love this shot of the photographer being photographed.
