It's Friday

Good Friday
Good Friday: Tea with the soon-to-wed Jon and SM.
SM is pondering her next career move, to which I told her to quit and be a Tai-Tai.
Ever the sharp-tongued woman that she is, she flashed her infamous smirk and shot back almost instantly while pointing at the blameless Jon: 'DO YOU THINK MY HUSBAND IS EARNING ENOUGH?'
It's always nice to meet both of them. In between serious discussions of political news and gossips about other common friends and acquaintances, there is no lack of sharp-witted bantering and friendly exchange of sarcastic observations.
I didn't offer this, but would have liked to say this in response to her rhetorical question: 'Yes, he may not be earning huge sum, but I have no doubt you can still be a Tai-Tai and be supported if you so decide to be one.'
And add a smirk to that statement, too.

Awake. Chase. Pause.
Awakening - beneath the sunlit sky from the east
Chasing - keeping to the madman pace
Pausing - looking skywards past the parallels

Lights
As the sky gradually darkened and the faraway lights became increasingly brighter, I stood there gazing the beautiful scene, feeling a sense of quiet awe. Lights can be so enchanting and mystical, drawing you to their sparkle, illuminating an otherwise bland piece of darkness. I like the presence of the cable cars; they are like the minutes and seconds of Time, moving synchronically, ferrying the secret production of light to generate their brightness until they become completely lit - at the darkest hour. They are a constant that keeps going even as the city sheds its day armour and puts on its alluring make-up under a blanket of real lights that shine from another galaxy.

Chasing the Sunset - 12 Feb 2012
The train rumbled out from the tunnel. Pressed to the train door on the other side of the MRT, I made do with the little standing space I had staked out. Car showrooms went by, followed by the familiar HDB flats and small towns. Two stations later, the evening sky finally loomed in the horizon, but it continued to disappear and re-appear again from behind the urban jungle that slid past like a continuous motion picture as the train journeyed on.
My attention was completely transfixed on the sky and the falling sun. This was the best part of the day to capture the soft hues of a city and the golden rust of dusk. If morning light gives off rays of hope and impresses with its raw and nascent energy, evening light is its western cousin that charms with its expansive and gentle warmth, soothing the city and its denizens as it gradually fades into twilight before the moon emerges and seduces with its coy mystique.

Bedside Beauty
On some mornings all I have to do is to sit up in bed when I wake up and look out of the window, and my eyes will open up speedily as they take in the mesmerising sky above the nearby HDB blocks of flats. Beauty is not at my doorstep, but at my bedside.

The Road to Atas-dom
The road to Atas-dom is paved with good intentions. It shows you where you stand in the scale of atashood as the pinnacles of finery gleam everywhere in the background. Be exhilarated, be humbled.

quaintly charming

They were moving on, I had to make do with a quick pause, so I moved closer to the beckoning gate, flipped my camera out and took a shot. I was drawn to the building the moment I saw it. I like how the gate opens up to a road leading to the main house, and how the fallen leaves and shrubbery around the gate gives the compound a quaintly charming facade. Just a chance discovery like this makes a whole lot of difference to an otherwise usual morning ride. Lovely.

a paris-esque moment

Balloons and romance go together, don't they, just as a bicycle and quaint shophouses make for a perfect match. In the absence of deep blue ocean and wind-swept coastal roads (with that occasional lighthouse in the distance), I think this is a decent backdrop for a whiff of snazzy romance.

charm in a city
Dilapidated walls that evoke old world charm
Behind that lane unfolds more buildings of different heights
Alluring ancient spiral staircase
Another charming facade of a building
The golden rust glow stole my gaze for a moment

The mee rubus looks especially good here
Adding on to the collection of Volkswagen chic. I love how retro the colour is
Red lanterns flank the street

Fruity Candy Sticks that look as sweet as they probably taste
Would you pack me away please
An array of coloured ice
Old school cup and saucer for morning tea
Religious
Know what's good in life for you
Traditional celebratory and prosperous chinese dishes
The neatness and length of the lanterns struck me
